PRESIDENTS PRATTLE - AUGUST 2016

July has been a very busy and successful month for the club and its members.

Going to Leamington for the National Championships are these successful ladies,

Two wood singles; Jeannette Berry, and Myra Lewis.

Singles; Kathy Hawes and Donna Knight.

Fours; Karen Galloway, Margaret Stacey, Carol Gaskins and Carol Penson.

Congratulations to you all, I hope club members will give you lots of support.

We went to Southbourne, Bournemouth for our annual seaside outing. It was very well organised by Helen Kingsley, ably assisted by Colin Pollard. Weather was excellent, the picnic was a great success, except I got fined for dropping food, oh well! The bowls went well and Southbourne Club were great company. Hope to have a return fixture with them.

On July 11th, the club welcomed the Dennyside Association. This is a Charity raising organisation men's team that go around the country, raising money for local charities. Helen and Douglas House were the charity of the day, and the amount raised was a wonderful £2,2OO. This was a most enjoyable day for me as they were such gentlemen. Thank you Dennyside.

We also had a successful charity day for Sobell House, again well organised by Colin Pollard and we raised £1833.25. Well done to all that participated.

Wedding Night Nerves

A seventy-seven-year-old man married a girl almost 50 years his junior. As he climbed into bed for the first time with his bride, he said, "Did your mother tell you what to do on your wedding night?" "Yes, she told me everything" replied the girl, kissing him gently. "Good" said the elderly gentleman, turning out the light, "because I've forgotten".
