Newbury Building Society Ten's Competition

During the indoor season we run a Ten's Competition on Sunday mornings starting at 10am.

The competition is based on the Ladies Top Club as played outdoors nationally, but adapted to a mixed format with strictly 5 Ladies and Men taking part.

However you can play in any combination within the Singles, Pairs, Triples or Fours as long as the team consists of 5 Ladies and Men.

There is money to be had. Our sponsors is the Newbury Building Society and the first prize is £250 with £125 for the runners up.

In previous years we have had 12 teams entered, this year 2 teams dropped out, leaving us unable to run 3 leagues, having only 10 teams it was  necessary to run just 2 leagues of 5 teams, which meant each team playing 4 games in the league format,

In normal circumstances we have Semi Finals and Finals, but with extra games being played dates were not available for Semi Finals, so this year it is a straight Final, between the winners of Leagues A and B. Hopefully next year we can revert to having Semi Finals.

There are still 3 matches to be played, but these will not affect the final placing in either league.

League A has been won by Oxford City & County, League B by Chipping Norton.

The final will take place on Sunday 12th April at 10am, so why not come along and give both teams your support.

Catering is available, you can have a breakfast on arrival or a roast lunch, or maybe both, and the choice is yours. The bar will be open from 12 noon.

The next Ten's Competition starts in early October. We need more Teams, if you are interested please contact Alan Holmes E Mail This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.or Tel 01865 820331

Teams do not have to come from a specific club, just has to be 5 Ladies and 5 Men.

The Tens were founded and have been run for the past 12 years by Peter and Rosemary Phelps, what great job they have done. I have a hard act to follow, but with your support the Ten's will continue to be a successful and enjoyable competition.
