THE KIDS ARE COMING

Well, things have certainly gone apace at City and County over the past few months - with friends old and new turning up in ever increasing numbers - hooray!

A few reflections to tell you about……first perhaps, to mention that many of our juniors have progressed to 'higher' things……many are now playing in adult matches (always a welcome sign) with one group now having their own team in our Friday Indoor league - and certainly showing some of us golden oldies the way home………another of our 'juniors' is on the fringe of Middleton Cup selection and indeed won their outdoor Club Championship Singles. Several of our youngsters are now playing in the County under 25 team and one of our girls has won the County under 25 Singles Championship. All good stuff and it is nice and rewarding to think they are the product of our coaching system.  Incidentally, with many of our juniors now moving on 'up the scale' so to speak, we would like to see more coming forward to have a go……….so come on kids - speak to Mum and Dad and ask them to bring you along. (we'll give them a coffee while they are watching!).

So you see, to those who have yet to visit us and  'have a go', it is not just about us geriatrics and we look forward to more new faces, irrespective of age, paying us a visit……a warm and friendly welcome awaits you - of that I can guarantee. One of these sports where the whole family can take part - from the tots to grandparents - and dare I say it, great grandparents too.

We have many qualified coaches, but perhaps Rosemary, Liz and Graham are foremost in their endeavours to promote our game……between them, they have  countless years coaching experience to offer. We are delighted to welcome people of all abilities……….from absolute beginners to those experienced bowlers who just want to 'tweak' their game,  and I know they will be there at your side to make you feel comfortable and at ease in getting to whatever standard you want to achieve. Initially we can provide all equipment - so just bring yourself along.

You'll find Graham (back row right), Liz (front row left) and Rosemary (front row right) with a few of our juniors they are currently coaching…..usually on a Saturday morning twix 9am and 10am. (incidentally, Liz does smile - promise!)

Senior coaching sessions are usually held on Fridays twix 5pm and 7pm.  Coaching sessions outside these times by prior arrangement. (the outdoor season starts towards the end of April when you will have a choice of both indoor and outdoor and times will then vary no doubt)

I invite you to read through our website and hopefully it will answer a lot of your questions…..if not, please get in touch and we will do our best to put you in the picture.

Any suggestions you may have to improve this Site,  I am sure our Web-Master, Merv Gleeson, would be pleased to hear from you.
